FORM206 NAME( )

* PRIORITY INVOLVING ADDITION,SABTRACTION,MULTIPLICATION,DIVISION

* When we do calculation involving addition multiplication,subtraction,division,we have to be careful of the priorities.Division,multiplication precede addition,subtraction.That is, regardless of the order, we have to multiply or divide first.If we want to change the order,we should add parentheses.Now ,If the expression involves only multiplication and division,how will we calculate ? This case,we will do the calculation from the left to the right. The same for addition and subtraction.

Example: 3 + 2 x 5 = 3 x 10 = 13

(2) (1)

If we want to change the priority;

(3 + 2)x 5 = 5 x 5 = 25

(1) (2)

60 - 2 x 5 = 30 x 5 = 150

(1) (2)

If we want to change the priority;

60 -(2 x 5)= 60 - 10 = 6

(2) (1)

Exercise:Fill ( ) with 1,2,3,4,.... according to the order and then calculate.

A. 3 + 6 - 2 x 7 - 2 =

( ) ( ) ( ) ( )

B. 4 x 5 - 6 - 2 =

( ) ( ) ( )

C. (6 - 2) x 5 + (4 + 3) - 7 =

( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( )

D. {(6 - 3) - 3 + 4 x 5 } + 15 - 3 =

( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( )

Exercise:Now,with letters(You do not have to write the order.);

A. 3a + 6b/2 =

B.4y -2y + 3y =

C.3z x 4z + 3 ( 5z + 2z ) =

D.6z / 3 - z + 14z x 3 =
